Studs and Leather

Right so today I've decided to do an outfit post as I haven't done one in so long! I have just moved back to Nottingham to start the second year of my fashion promotion degree and this is what I wore on my first day back.
I've paired a feminine tie-dye top with the ruggedness of leather shorts and studded boots. I love to contrast the feminine and masculine to create an interesting look. This outfit was an absolute bargain!
,

Top: £10 Urban Outfitters Shorts: £20 New look and the only slight splurge was the studded creepers at £50 from Urban Outfitters. I don't regret buying them one bit. They are most definitely my new favourite pair of shoes, and they are great for both day and evening wear.

The coveted disco pants!

So like many other people I'm sure, I have been lusting after the American Apparel disco pants. I was lucky enough to get the hotpant version at a lock in sale when they first came out for a discounted price, but I still want the disco pants! I thought my want for them would have faded after all this time but nahhh, it's still alive and kicking. But luckily now the rest of the highstreet has cottoned on to the idea, so I thought I'd let you in on my discoveries. Here are some I found for a fraction of the price of the original. Now all there is left for me to do is decide on a pair...

These ones are from Misguided.co.uk priced at 25.99. They look practically identical to the original

River Island does a great pair and they have loads of different colours if you want something that's really going to stand out. These blue ones have been reduced to £20 aswell. Such a good deal. I tried a pair on and they seemed pretty good quality too.

These are only 15 quid from boohoo.com. Really love this colour. Think these might be the ones I'll go for... They have some other cool colours aswell

Bestival

Although it is London fashion week and my course tutors will probably be horrified that I'm not writing about that right now...I'm going to write a post about my incredible time at Bestival on the Isle of Wight last weekend and show you a few of the pictures I took.

It was my first time going to Bestival and it exceeded my expectations. It was the quirkiness of the festival that I fell in love with. Everywhere you looked, there was elaborate fancy dress, psychadelic art work and unexpected treasures to be stumbled upon. They even had a place called the Ambient Forest where poetry and live music was performed amongst the trees. It was the little things that made the festival so great.

Me (on the right) and my freind at the incredibly jazzy Bestival sign.

On the Saturday night, me and my friend were taken by surprise by a group of transgender performers putting on a show at about 4 in the morning. It was surreal! There was a bollywood themed stage that was simply incredible to look at, a bus which was a bar and miny house you could sit in.

I was sold simply by the amazing visuals of the festival. But I can't go without mentioning the music. It was insane. I've come away with new favourite bands, and was exposed to music I wouldn't normally bother with. After seeing First Aid Kit, a two woman Swedish folk group, I can now say that I truly appreciate that kind of music. What made them so great for me, was the fact that they dressed like innocent omish women yet headbanged as if they were playing slayer. I also got to see King Charles who I had listened to a few times before but nothing compared to seeing him in the flesh. His hair was sooo long haha, and his eccentricity really shone through.

Aswell as getting to experience new music, I got the chance to see some bands that I had wanted to see for a very long time. The xx! Seriously cannot express how much love I have for this band. Their vocals are literally perfect. I can happily say that they were the highlight of the festival for me.Florence was also incredible. I'm not normally a massive fan but seeing her live changed this. She really knows how to put on a show, and being really near the front meant the crowd was buzzing. When she did Say My Name, there was an amazing sense of euphoria. I also got to see a few favourites of mine such as SBTRK, Hot Chip and Justice :) and of course I can't leave out the legend that is STEVIE WONDER. He was AMAZING. So much respect for that guy.

There's so much more I could say but I don't want to bore you. I would reccomend this festival to anyone. I am so so going next year. I'll leave with a few photos of the festival.

A police riot van rave...as you do

A fresh start

So I didn't keep to my promise and end up blogging lots throughout the summer :/ but I've come to the conclusion that I want to change the focus of my blog as what I was doing before simply wasn't for me. I aim to have more of a focus on the things I actually love. Most notably music, personal style, high-street fashion and whatever tickles my fancy from the realms of the creative world. I hope you enjoy.

House of Holland collaboration

Haven't blogged in forever due to my mass workload, but now I'm free for summer, yay! So hopefully will be blogging a lot more.

Made a new discovery today, in the form of a fashion collaboration. Was browsing the House of Holland website to find Henry Holland has designed a shoe collection for the Italian footwear brand Superga. I was unaware of the brand until today so thought I'd take a look, and was surprised to see Alexa Chung as their poster girl. This immediately won me over, as I am slightly in love with the girl. They have some pretty cool stuff, quite similar to Vans, and it's not badly priced either.

The House of Holland collaboration goes on sale tomorrow, and the shoes are awesome! They take the Creeper style shoe that I love, and have a load of different prints and colours. It's great to see these new styles as so many people have the plain black ones now (myself included). I'm loving the mint green! Can't seem to find the price yet, but I'm hoping they aren't too expensive! Might have to be making a splurge into the student budget tomorrow...

Outfit of the day

My friend Emma from http://pleasureoverbusiness.blogspot.co.uk/ managed to take a quick snap of my street style for her blog today, so here's my outfit :)

My jumper is actually men's and was a vintage find. My blouse, which only the collar is peeping out is also vintage. The necklace is Topshop, the bag is a Mulberry look a like I found in Portobello market, and the leggings were a great find in Forever 21 when I went to New York :D and on my feet, i wear a pair of classic converse.
